2016 Chardonnay, Blue Beret

The Wine: When Miljenko Mike Grgich was studying viticultural and enology in the 1950s at the University of Zagreb in Croatia, he didnt have much money. When he accidently left his umbrella on a streetcar, Mike couldn't afford a new one. But, a French beret caught his eye: it would protect his head from the rain and it could fold up into a pocket so he wouldnt lose it.

Even after he became known as the King of Chardonnay and was eventually inducted into the Vintners Hall of Fame in 2008, Mike never lost his beret. In fact, his famous hat can be found in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, in Washington D.C.

Using estate grown fruit, we crafted a wonderful fruit-forward wine that is enjoyable now. It's crisp, with beautiful stone fruit aromas and flavors of citrus flowers and honey. The long finish is is framed with tropical fruit and the right amount of acidity to remain lively.

Enjoy this food-friendly wine with fresh seafood, roasted chicken, grilled pork, creamy cheeses, and a good story about a blue beret!
